Professional Supervision

Professional Supervision is a powerful process in which I work one on one with clients to illuminate the way their personal issues impact on the way they take up their leadership. Clients are able to review their professional encounters and gain insight into patterns of behavior which are no longer helpful to them.

Professional supervision takes particular cognizance of the work setting and addresses issues of role, leadership and the way we take up our authority. It is informed by the dynamics of organisational life and the ways these dynamics can hook us into replaying past unhelpful roles.

Professional Supervision provides a perspective independent from ongoing political agendas yet with a heightened sensitivity to current culture, and helps the client develop new options for action.

Professional Supervision draws no artificial boundary between the personal and professional worlds and helps clients integrate different aspects of themselves, becoming more empowered and more effective at work.

Coaching

I use coaching with clients to create more options for solving work problems. Coaching takes place on an individual or small group basis and incorporates training, exploration of critical incidents as well as opportunities for observation of the client’s practice on site.

Ongoing coaching groups, sometimes called Reflective Practice Groups create a learning environment in which managers can be both challenged and cared for. They are a place for feedback and robust conversations. The impact of ongoing coaching will be felt as members develop a clearer sense of their personal and professional authority. In this way they are more freed up to contribute and add value.

Instead of managers keeping problems "in house" there is an opportunity to work on them with their colleagues together with a consultant/coach. This will of’ course mean building both trust and skill. It will mean having real conversations on the real issues instead of the usual surface level chats in the corridor.
